Nelko P21 Bluetooth label maker review

The Nelko P21 is the cheapest good way to make app-designed labels. It fits in a pocket, needs no ink, and the Nelko app turns a phone into a label studio with templates and icons, plus QR codes and dates.

Why it is the cheapest label you can print

Price per label comes first: thermal rolls cost a few cents a label, against 14¢ or more for laminated tape.

The app is its strongest point. The app supplies templates and icons. It also prints barcodes and QR codes and adds date stamps, which makes jar and freezer labels and classroom name tags quick, and it is one of the most-reviewed label makers on Amazon.

The listing says it is half the size and weight of a traditional label maker, so it lives in a drawer, not on a desk.

A month of meal prep, worked out

Label 25 freezer bags and jars a week and you print about 100 labels a month. At 3 to 6 cents a label, the rolls cost $3 to $6 a month, less than one laminated tape cassette.

Who buys one

  • Meal-preppers dating freezer bags and jars every week.
  • Parents labelling every school supply at the start of term.
  • Anyone who wants app-designed labels for the least money.

Supplies that fit

When it fits, when it doesn't

Good fit if you want the cheapest way to make app-designed labels for jars and drawers, or school supplies.

Poor fit if labels go outdoors or in a hot garage. Laminated TZe tape lasts longer.

The NIIMBOT D110 is equally cheap and tiny, recognises the roll you load and has a built-in rechargeable battery. Choose on app preference and the label styles you like.
